Public banking allows mothers who deliver in designated hospitals to donate their umbilical cord blood (free of charge) to a person in need of a life-saving stem cell transplant.
How Do I Become a Donor?
Thank you for your interest in donating your baby's cord blood. Becoming a donor is simple and rewarding. Your donation helps increase the national inventory of cord blood units available to those in need of a life-saving stem cell transplant. Banked public units from StemCyte are listed on the Be The Match Registry®. When a patient needs a transplant, the patient's doctor or transplant center can search the Be The Match Registry®.
First step is to determine if you are delivering at a StemCyte affiliated hospital (list below). Next, you may ask for a public bank specialist when you are admitted to the hospital or contact us now (see below).
