Happy Independence Day!

Have you ever asked yourself why time seems to go by much faster the older we get? Or heard the phrase, “Cherish every moment, because they grow up so fast?” As a seasoned mom of two adult-aged children, I can certainly attest to those very words! I find myself sharing these statements whenever I meet new moms. In the blink of an eye, they will become adults, and moms like me will be saying, “Where did the years go?”

If parents could magically look into the future, I am sure they would want to know if their children would grow up to be healthy, strong, and happy. But without a magic-eight ball or a way to predict the future, many parents can only hope and pray that their family remains safe and in good health. Sadly, with the global COVID-19 pandemic, parents’ fears are becoming a reality.

From the time a mom learns she is expecting, her first and most important wish is to have a healthy baby. With the first ultrasound through delivery, the stress and concern for a newborn’s health is all a new parent can think about. As our children grow older, our fears sadly don’t lessen. In fact, they often increase as they fall when learning to walk and run out the door as teens. We know our families are not impervious to disease or injury and we know that raising a family means there will be illness, and inherent risks throughout the lives of our children. But what can we do? Perhaps decades ago, new parents had little to no options in supporting their family’s future health, but that was then!

Today, expectant parents have options to safeguard their family’s health. The science is proven, and the survivors are real! The brochure in your OB/GYNs office for cord blood and cord tissue preservation is definitely worth your time. Perhaps you have heard of cord blood banking but aren’t quite familiar with the numerous benefits of cord blood stem cells. After you have been examined and know that your baby has all five toes and five fingers, please be sure to ask your doctor about preserving your baby’s cord blood and cord tissue. You may be surprised to learn that through this painless and non-invasive procedure, that biological siblings and parents can benefit from your newborn’s stem cells for years to come. These newborn stem cells have the potential to repair and regenerate the cells, tissue, and organs that are damaged, diseased, or injured throughout one’s lifetime and not simply childhood.

From immune and metabolic disorders to blood cancers, cord blood transplants and therapies work! This is fantastic news!

Each year, just as we celebrate the beginning of our nation’s independence, we celebrate our children’s day of birth. We watch them grow older, and we are thankful for their health. But wouldn’t it be great if we knew that each year we celebrated, that we also knew that those precious stem cells that we chose to preserve are tucked safely away in StemCyte’s cryopreservation tanks. They would be protected and monitored 24/7 and 365 days a year and quickly accessible when a cord blood stem cell transplant was needed.

As we approach the 4th of July, we give thanks for the birth of the United States of America. Our founding fathers laid the foundation of our country and its independence and preserved our states’ future. Just like the founding fathers, we should protect the future of our children and their future health!

May you have a safe 4th of July!
